Solar collectors transform solar energy into heat - , A solar collector is generally constructed as follows: An absorber panel is mounted behind a highly transparent glass pane at a distance of a few centimetres. The surface of the panel is designed to absorb most of the incident sunlight. Excellent heat conductivity of the absorber plate is required, which therefore is generally made from copper or aluminum. Copper tubes are joined to the back, allowing for good thermal conductivity from the plate to the tubes. These contain the conducting fluid. In order to join the copper tubes to the absorber plate several different techniques are used. Physical forming (e.g. with small widths as with fins), soldering, ultrasonic welding and laser welding. The connection between aluminum, absorber sheet and a copper tube is best achieved with laser welding. Insulation material is mounted behind the absorber plate on the copper tube side. Finally, the collector is finished with a backplate. The total construction is mounted in a frame of either metal or wood. For more details visit: www.alanod-sunselect.de |
